My brother from Kolkata was kind enough to send me a brand new Kodak Easyshare C913 via courier, and I got my hands on it this afternoon. The courier guy turned out to be a muppet- he couldn’t find my house despite the fact that it stands right by the side of the main road. So I myself had to (horror of horrors!) go out in the hot sun to get the camera. After taking a few sample shots with the camera, I’ve started to like it.
The camera is a 9.2 MP camera which boasts of 3x optical zoom. The picture quality is good, and the auto settings work well. Videos can be captured at 640×480 @ 15 FPS or 320×240 @ 30 FPS, and the quality is decent enough. Despite being a point-and-shoot camera, some settings can be fairly tweaked.
The camera is really compact, so it’s very portable. Build quality is satisfactory, but the battery cover feels flimsy. The camera is very easy to use, thanks to the simple user interface and the user manual provided.
The blur reduction feature is present, which is good for shaky hands like mine. The camera also has pictbridge support, but I won’t be needing it anyway since I don’t have a printer. Features like auto focus and red-eye reduction are available as well. File transfer can be done via USB. The internal storage size is pathetic, so I plan on buying a memory card. The detailed specifications can be viewed here
Overall it’s a decent camera and worth buying for a casual photographer. As for me, I’m off to take a few shots.
